About Our School

Mission:  Highland is a community high school engaging Hornets to believe in their ability to achieve their highest potential in preparation for life.

Vision:  “Engage, Equity, Excellence”

Highland High School is one of thirteen comprehensive high schools and 8 Schools of Choice in the Albuquerque Public School system with approximately 1,400 students in grades nine through twelve. Highland High School’s diversity is what sets us apart and unifies us as a community; we have the most amount of AP courses offered on campus and, being located in the International District, have the most amount of native languages on campus at 21.

Highland High School strives to be the premier high school in central New Mexico.  The school provides a learning environment that prepares young people to realize their potential, helps them excel in higher education, and provides a foundation to guide them throughout their lives.  We accept the challenge to make a difference in the lives of our students, to recognize their strengths, to prepare them for careers and to empower them to make a difference in the world.
